You don't have to be a parent to get involved; grandparents, aunts, uncles, and godparents are part of this too. Here's what's worth knowing before you jump in.
3 things to know:
- There are two ways to help: one-time events throughout the year, or steady roles you can pick up anytime. Both count.
- Every volunteer needs one quick step first: a short safety process (VIRTUS training, a background check). It's one-time and lasts for three years.
- We ask for about 4 hours a year, however you want to get there. One big event or a handful of small ones, it's up to you.

A Few of the Highlights
Marathon Day — October 2
OLP's second-biggest fundraiser, and every dollar your student raises goes straight to their own classroom, for field trips, supplies, and more.
Party in the Patch — October 24
Games, treats, and family fun kick off a full week of Pumpkin Patch traditions, with proceeds going directly to support OLP's kids.
Jingle Mingle — November
A parents' night out to reconnect with friends before the holiday season gets busy.
Trivia Night — February
A parents-only night of friendly competition, grouped by class, and a great excuse for a night out.
The Gala — March
Our biggest night of the year and our largest fundraiser, supporting OLP as a whole.
Small Ways to Get Involved All Year Long
Big events aren't the only way to help. Some of our favorite roles are the small, steady ones, like a hand in the lunchroom or checking in on a classroom now and then. These happen all year, and every bit of it matters.
Lunchroom Help
One volunteer needed daily to help monitor the lunchroom. A simple way to brighten a kid's day right in the middle of it.
Concessions
Help run the concession stand at school events throughout the fall, September through March. A simple way to pitch in during games and gatherings.
Classroom Volunteers
Lend a hand with day-to-day classroom needs throughout the year from classroom readers to field trips.
Before You Volunteer: A Quick Requirement
OLP requires every volunteer to complete a short safety process first: VIRTUS training, a signed Code of Conduct, and a background check. It's a one-time step so we can keep our kids safe.

How Much Should You Give?
We ask every family to contribute about 4 hours of volunteer time a year. There's no wrong way to hit that number, pick whatever fits your life this year.
