The Ambassador Family Program
We know that entering a new school can be both exciting and stressful. We would like to help new families to Our Lady of Peace School through this transition and into the year ahead.
The Ambassador Family Program pairs up families with children entering Our Lady of Peace School for the first time with existing (ambassador) families. The ambassador family has one or more children currently in OLP and will be available to answer questions to help the families along their journey.
The “Ambassador Family”
Calls the new family late spring or early summer to ask if they have questions and to give them their contact information.
Will set up a visit with the family. For example, meeting at a park so that the kids can meet and play. It is so much easier to enter a new school if you know at least one person.
Contacts the family again a week or two before school. Make sure they know how to drop off the first day, talk about activities at Our Lady of Peace such as what occurs during Catholic School Week and answer questions again.
Will be available throughout the upcoming school year to answer any questions new families may have.
Additionally, the new families receive two letters; one in the spring describing the fall-winter activities and some helpful ideas about entering Our Lady of Peace School and one in the winter describing the upcoming spring activities.
