Taher Food service is the lunch provider for Our Lady of Peace School.
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:
How do we order lunch?
Lunches are pre-order. The menu comes out the month prior. Students must make their selections and turn-in their order form by the due date. Please see HOME page for the quick link to the current month's menu.
What is included in the school lunch?
School lunches are composed of the main entrée, milk and the fruit and vegetable bar.
What do lunches cost?
Does the school lunch meet the USDA Food and Nutrition Guidelines?
At Our Lady of Peace the meals served through our contractor, Taher, meet the federal guidelines for nutrition, calories and serving size required for students in grades K-8. On a daily basis K-5 students should consume 550-650 calories at lunch and grades 6-8 should consume 600-700 calories. For best nutrition, students should have five components to their meal: protein, grains, fruits, vegetables and milk in the following quantities:
Meat or meat substitute (protein): one ounce
Grains: one ounce
Fruits: one-half cup
Vegetables: three-quarters cup
Milk: one cup
Are items nutritional?
Healthy and nutritional items are very important to us. Check out the nutritional data from this Taher document.
What happens if my child forgets their lunch?
If a student did not order a lunch and forgets their lunch at home, there will always be an alternative lunch available to students that includes the vegetable and fruit bar. We will assure there is food so that every student eats lunch.
Is the salad bar really unlimited?
The fruit and vegetable bar comes with every lunch. Students get one pass through and can grab unlimited items from the fruit and vegetable options. Students are encouraged to take as much as they can eat. Due to sanitation, students are not allowed to return to the fruit and vegetable bar once they have paid for their meal.
Can Taher accommodate my student with food allergies?
Taher is able to accommodate students with food allergies. Please contact the Our Lady of Peace School office for more information.
